The Fiskars and Pohja area children’s football team was founded in the summer of 2019 to fill a gap in the village for a regular, coached, and goal-oriented sports activity—while still keeping the atmosphere fun and relaxed rather than overly competitive. Our aim was to offer a local hobby close to home, making children’s participation as independent as possible from parents having to drive them long distances.
We succeeded, and today two teams train on the grass pitch at the Fiskars sports field during the summer season. One team is for children in preschool through 2nd grade, and the other is for children in 3rd through 6th grade.
During the winter, we train indoors. The younger team practices in the gymnasium of Fiskars School, while the older team trains at the Påminne indoor sports hall.
Our coaches are familiar local residents, and the coaching team consists of adults and young people who are passionate about football. The head coaches are Otto Samola and Kim Simonsson.
Team leadership is shared by Anne Juntunen and Ulla Roimola.
All girls and boys within the age groups are welcome to join. The membership fee is €40 per year per family. In addition, players are required to purchase the official Fiskars Saksipotku team kit.
During the summer, we play friendly matches against teams from neighboring municipalities, either at the Fiskars sports field or by visiting our opponents on their home grounds.
If you are interested in joining the team, becoming part of the coaching staff, or helping with any of the other adult roles required to run the team, please do not hesitate to get in touch. There is always room for new people in our community.
